The Humanitarian Coalition has raised alarms regarding the swift spread of a deadly strain of the Ebola virus in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and Uganda, as containment efforts struggle to keep pace. Reports indicate nearly 1,000 suspected cases, including 220 deaths, in the DRC, while Uganda has confirmed seven cases and one death. In response, Oxfam-Québec and World Vision Canada are intensifying their efforts to provide essential services such as clean water, sanitation, and health support, funded by the Canadian Humanitarian Assistance Fund. The Coalition emphasizes the urgent need for a coordinated global response to address the outbreak and support affected communities amid an already critical humanitarian crisis in the region.
