In Somalia, the Makkah Hospital in Mogadishu has become a vital healthcare facility, supported by the United Nations Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF), World Health Organization Somalia, and Action Against Hunger. The hospital adopts a holistic approach to maternal and child health, addressing various needs in one visit, which is crucial in a country where many mothers lack access to trained health workers during childbirth. Two mothers, Dahiro and Nafisa, recently experienced this integrated care, receiving essential vaccinations and nutritional support for their children, thereby enhancing their families' health outcomes. This initiative aligns with Somalia's National Transformation Plan and aims to improve health coverage and well-being for the population, particularly in a context where millions face hunger and health challenges.
