AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum and Governor of Kwara State, stated that the removal of fuel subsidies by President Bola Tinubu has positively impacted various states across the federation since its implementation on May 29, 2023. During a Sallah homage visit to Tinubu's residence in Lagos, AbdulRazaq recounted the initial concerns among governors regarding the potential backlash from the policy, which led to preparations for possible unrest. However, he noted that the anticipated riots did not occur, and instead, states have experienced financial improvements, including a 40% reduction in Kwara State's debt. He emphasized that the governors ultimately accepted the policy after engaging with the president and recognizing the broader vision for the country.
