Troops rescue 31 kidnapped victims in Zamfara

Troops from the 1 Brigade, Combat Team 6, successfully rescued 31 individuals who had been kidnapped during a patrol operation along the Bagega–Kawaye road in Anka Local Government Area of Zamfara State. The rescue occurred at approximately 6:33 a.m. on May 28, as the troops encountered the victims while conducting routine patrols. Reports indicate that the victims had been held captive for several weeks by armed groups in the region, and their escape was facilitated by an airstrike conducted by a Nigerian Air Force helicopter gunship in the Bagega forest. Following their escape, the victims were intercepted and secured by ground troops, and security authorities are currently working to reunite them with their families after completing medical assessments and necessary security protocols.
