Alabo Dumo Lulu-Briggs has been declared the governorship candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Rivers State for the upcoming 2027 elections, following an unopposed victory in the party's primary held on Tuesday. The primary, conducted across all local government areas, saw no other candidates contesting for the position. In his remarks after the declaration, Lulu-Briggs expressed gratitude to the party for their trust and characterized the primary process as orderly and peaceful. He is now set to compete against Kingsley Chinda of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who secured his party's nomination after incumbent Governor Siminalayi Fubara withdrew from the race, marking a significant political contest in the state.
