A cholera outbreak in Borno State has resulted in the deaths of at least 37 individuals, with over 3,000 confirmed infections reported across various regions, including Maiduguri, the state capital. The Executive Secretary of the Borno State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency, Dr. Saleh Abba Kaza, stated that the first incident was recorded on May 1, with confirmation following on May 4. The outbreak has affected 36 wards in seven local government areas, with Maiduguri Metropolitan Council and Jere being the most impacted. Authorities are urging the public to enhance water, sanitation, and hygiene practices, report symptoms promptly, and seek professional medical assistance to mitigate the crisis.
