The Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) has raised alarms regarding the ongoing captivity of teachers and students abducted during coordinated attacks in Ahoro-Esinele and Yawota communities within the Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State. In a statement released on Saturday, the union's leadership, including Chairman Hassan Fatai and Secretary Salami Olukayode, described the situation as distressing and called for immediate action from government and security agencies to secure the victims' release. The NUT highlighted the psychological toll on the families and the educational community, exacerbated by a video from the kidnappers showing the victims in distress. The union urged authorities to enhance surveillance and community intelligence efforts while appealing to local leaders and residents for assistance in the rescue operations, emphasizing the need for swift and decisive measures to ensure the safety of schools.
