Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the Director-General of the World Health Organization, arrived in Bunia, the capital of Ituri province in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, on Saturday to address the ongoing Ebola outbreak. During his visit, he emphasized the importance of community involvement in the response efforts, stating that the international community is collaborating with the DRC government to manage the crisis. The outbreak, which was declared on May 15, has resulted in at least 1,077 suspected cases and 246 deaths, with the disease spreading to three eastern provinces and into Uganda. The WHO has raised concerns about the potential underreporting of cases, given the region's limited laboratory testing capacity and ongoing conflict.
