The Coalition of Registered Political Parties (CRPP) has demanded a public apology from Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo following an incident during the Children's Day celebration where a member of a private security outfit used pepper spray on students. In a statement released by CRPP's National Chairman, Francis Isibor, the group criticized the decision to employ private security for such a significant event, asserting that the chaos, which resulted in injuries and hospitalizations among students, could have been avoided. Reports indicate that the situation escalated when male students from a government secondary school allegedly attempted to disrupt the event, leading to a stampede. In response, the state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Kassim Afegbua, refuted claims regarding the hospitalization of students, labeling Isibor's assertions as false and questioning the legitimacy of the CRPP.
