Fifteen Chinese nationals and nine Nigerian individuals have been arraigned by the Mining Marshals in the Federal High Court, Abuja, for their involvement in illegal lithium mining activities in Nasarawa State. The defendants were presented before Justice Ofili-Ajumogobia in Court 6 of the Federal High Court, following their arrest on May 16, 2026. They are accused of conducting mining operations without the necessary legal authorization, which has raised concerns regarding regulatory compliance in the mining sector. The court proceedings are part of ongoing efforts to enforce mining laws and regulations in Nigeria.
