Egypt is enhancing its financial resilience to disasters and climate-related risks through the establishment of a national disaster risk financing strategy. A national workshop held in Cairo, organized by the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), brought together government institutions, UN agencies, and national stakeholders to discuss frameworks and approaches for disaster risk financing. The workshop emphasized the importance of structured financial mechanisms to protect vulnerable populations, maintain essential services, and facilitate recovery from disasters. Additionally, it aimed to strengthen collaboration among various stakeholders and outline the next steps for developing the national strategy, thereby reinforcing Egypt's commitment to sustainable development and disaster resilience.
