The ongoing conflict in Iran has resulted in significant humanitarian crises for millions of Iranian civilians and Afghan refugees residing in the country. Jan Egeland, Secretary General of the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC), highlighted the severe impact of the war, which has led to widespread displacement, with nearly 3.2 million people temporarily uprooted since the conflict began. The war has caused extensive damage to essential infrastructure, including homes, schools, and health facilities, leaving over 17 million students unable to attend school and exacerbating the already dire economic conditions faced by families. NRC has been providing assistance since 2012, but Egeland noted that the organization is currently facing a funding shortfall, hindering its ability to support those in desperate need amidst the ongoing crisis.
