The Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, in collaboration with the National Horticultural Research Institute (NIHORT), has initiated a program aimed at enhancing banana and plantain production in Nigeria. As part of this initiative, 67 farmers from the Agric Mate Farewell to Poverty Association of Nigeria have received training focused on the rapid multiplication and orchard management of the newly released HORTIPLAN and HORTIBAN crop varieties. This effort is designed to improve agricultural practices and increase the yield of these vital crops, contributing to food security and economic development in the region.
