The Myanmar Health Cluster Bulletin for May 2026 highlights a significant increase in attacks on healthcare facilities, with 73 incidents reported from January to May, a notable rise from the 38 verified attacks recorded by the World Health Organization. The majority of these incidents involved the use of heavy weapons, alongside other forms of violence such as obstruction and asset removal. Additionally, intensified airstrikes and drone attacks in various regions, including Chin and Rakhine, are severely disrupting access to healthcare and the transportation of medical supplies. The bulletin also notes a surge in malaria cases due to inadequate vector control measures and a lack of bed nets, as well as outbreaks of Acute Watery Diarrhoea linked to poor hygiene practices, prompting joint action planning for monsoon preparedness and increased measles vaccination efforts in response to outbreaks in neighboring Bangladesh.
