The federal government, in collaboration with the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA), has officially launched a land trust fund aimed at empowering youths in the agribusiness sector. During the launch event held in Abuja, Ayodele Olawande, the minister of youth development, emphasized the initiative's goal of transforming 42 youth development centres into active agribusiness hubs. The program is set to train and empower six million young Nigerians in agribusiness over the next three years, addressing the critical issue of land access that has hindered many aspiring young farmers. Additionally, the initiative aims to support the establishment of at least 500,000 youth-led agribusiness enterprises and facilitate connections between young entrepreneurs and both local and international markets.
