Justice Peter Lifu of the Federal High Court in Abuja has scheduled June 3 for the hearing of a suit initiated by Nafiu Bala Gombe, who is contesting the legitimacy of David Mark and others as leaders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC). The case, which was previously overseen by Justice Emeka Nwite, has been reassigned to Justice Lifu following Nwite's elevation to the Court of Appeal. Gombe's suit alleges that the leadership of Mark, Rauf Aregbesola, and the interim National Working Committee violates the ADC's constitution and the Electoral Act. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is also named as a defendant in the case, which has garnered attention following a Supreme Court ruling that ordered an expeditious hearing after a previous status quo order was set aside.
