Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, has raised alarms regarding the deteriorating security situation in Nigeria, particularly the ongoing abductions of schoolchildren in Borno and Oyo states. In a statement posted on his official page, Obi noted that two weeks have passed since the kidnappings, yet the victims have not been freed despite the efforts of security agencies. He highlighted recent violent incidents in Plateau, Kogi, and Anambra states, including the deaths of at least seven individuals in Plateau and the abduction of over 25 people in Kogi. Obi criticized the political class for prioritizing electoral ambitions over the urgent need to address the safety and well-being of citizens, particularly children affected by these security challenges.
