Babachir Lawal, the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, has clarified his use of the term "Kachalla" to describe former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, asserting that it is a title employed by certain groups, including notorious bandit leaders, to refer to their local leaders. Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Lawal emphasized that as a Fulani man, Atiku should not be offended by the term. He further claimed that some Fulani groups are celebrating Atiku's candidacy for the presidency, believing it could enhance their prospects of influencing Nigeria's leadership. Lawal also criticized Atiku for not publicly condemning violence and kidnappings in northern Nigeria, citing specific incidents and questioning his commitment to addressing these issues as a presidential aspirant.
