Prof. Pat Utomi has commended Peter Obi for his recent transition from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), describing it as a strategic decision that helped him avoid potential pitfalls. Utomi noted that the ADC faced significant discontent among its presidential aspirants, including Chibuike Amaechi and Mohammed Hayatu-deen, who expressed dissatisfaction with the primary outcomes. Obi has since been officially declared the presidential candidate of the NDC, where he received the party's flag and announced former Kano governor Engr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso as his running mate. Utomi emphasized the challenges within the primary processes of various parties, suggesting that they often undermine the democratic framework, which could have adversely affected Obi's candidacy had he remained in the ADC.
