The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has officially designated June 14, 2026, as a day of mourning, referred to as Black Sunday, in remembrance of the victims of terrorist attacks throughout the nation. In conjunction with this observance, the Association has announced a national prayer initiative scheduled from June 12 to June 14. This decision was made during the conclusion of the National Church Denominational Leadership Summit 2026, where CAN Chairman, His Eminence, Archbishop, emphasized the importance of unity and prayer in the face of ongoing insecurity.
