The House of Representatives has urged the federal government to expedite the rescue of the abducted schoolchildren and teachers from Ogbomoso, who were taken during an attack on May 15. This resolution was passed during a plenary session on Tuesday, following a motion presented by Olamijuwonlo Alao-Akala, the representative for Ogbomoso north/south/Oriire federal constituency. The attack resulted in the abduction of at least 45 individuals from several schools in the Oriire Local Government Area. In light of the situation, the Nigeria Union of Teachers has initiated a strike in Oyo State, demanding urgent action from the government, while President Bola Tinubu has ordered the deployment of a specialized security unit to facilitate the victims' release.
