The Democratic Republic of the Congo is currently facing a significant Ebola outbreak, with the World Health Organization reporting 321 confirmed cases and 116 suspected cases, resulting in 48 confirmed deaths and over 240 suspected fatalities. The outbreak, attributed to the Bundibugyo strain, has spread from Ituri province to North Kivu and South Kivu provinces, as well as into Uganda, where nine cases and one death have been confirmed. The situation is exacerbated by insecurity in Ituri province, which has hindered case reporting and led to attacks on Ebola Treatment Centers. In response, the International Medical Corps has deployed rapid response teams to key locations in the DRC and Uganda, focusing on constructing treatment centers, providing hygiene supplies, and enhancing contact tracing efforts to mitigate the outbreak's impact.
