The Emergency Telecommunications Cluster, in collaboration with the Logistics Cluster and the World Food Programme, has conducted a rapid telecommunications assessment in Ituri Province, Democratic Republic of the Congo, amid the ongoing Ebola BVD outbreak. The assessment highlights that connectivity in the region is limited, uneven, and unreliable, with urban centers like Bunia experiencing some 3G and 4G coverage. However, the signal quality diminishes significantly outside of major towns and transport corridors, leaving large areas, particularly in surrounding health zones, with weak or no signal. This lack of reliable communication poses challenges for response actors engaged in managing the outbreak effectively.
