The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has confirmed that confidential voter information pertaining to Emeka Ike, a Nollywood actor and House of Representatives aspirant, was leaked through the use of valid staff credentials. This revelation was made by Mohammed Kudu Haruna, INEC’s National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, in a statement released on Tuesday. The incident came to light after Ike's voter registration details were publicly shared online by Lere Olayinka, a media aide to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, shortly after Ike announced his candidacy. An internal investigation by INEC found that there was no external hacking involved, as the data was accessed legitimately by registered officers, and the commission is currently cooperating with the Department of State Services (DSS), which has initiated its own investigation into the matter.
