178 communities in Kano at risk of flooding— NEMA

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has reported that 178 communities in 28 local government areas of Kano State are at a moderate risk of flooding in the upcoming 2026 rainy season. This information was shared during a stakeholders’ engagement workshop, which also marked the launch of the 2026 National Preparedness and Response Campaign (NPRC). NEMA's identification of these vulnerable areas aims to enhance preparedness and response strategies to mitigate the impact of potential flooding. The agency emphasized the importance of collaboration among stakeholders to address the challenges posed by flooding in the region.
