Court Sentence Four Owo Church Attackers To Death

The Federal High Court in Abuja has issued a death sentence by hanging for four individuals linked to the June 5, 2022, attack on St. Francis Catholic Church in Owo, Ondo State. The convicted members of the Al-Shabaab terrorist group, identified as Idris Abdulmalik Omeiza, Al Qasim Idris, Jamiu Abdulmalik, and Abdulhaleem Idris, were found guilty on multiple counts of terrorism as presented by the Department of State Services on behalf of the Federal Government. In contrast, a fifth defendant, Momoh Otuho Abubakar, was acquitted and discharged due to a lack of sufficient evidence against him.
