A Federal High Court in Abuja has imposed the death penalty by hanging on four individuals found guilty of participating in the attack on St. Francis Catholic Church in Owo, Ondo State. The judgment was delivered by Justice Emeka Nwite, who confirmed that the defendants were convicted on all nine counts of terrorism-related charges filed by the Department of State Services. Additionally, one suspect in the case was acquitted, with the court finding insufficient evidence to support the charges against him. The attack, which occurred in June 2022, resulted in numerous casualties and has since drawn significant public attention.
