A recent survey conducted by the Federal Government revealed that over 80 percent of Nigerians support the implementation of social media regulations specifically aimed at children. Among the respondents, 64.5 percent advocated for a minimum age requirement of either 16 or 17 years for social media use, which is significantly higher than the commonly accepted global threshold of 13 years. This finding underscores a growing concern regarding the impact of social media on younger audiences in Nigeria.
