On the evening of June 3, 2026, armed confrontations erupted in Mogadishu between Somali Federal Government forces and an opposition-affiliated armed group, leading to serious implications for the protection of civilians. The clashes began near Dabka Junction and quickly spread to densely populated areas, including Howlwadaag, Cabdicasiis, Hodan, Wardhiigley, and parts of Kaaraan.
