At least 49 individuals have lost their lives due to dehydration in a remote area of the Sahara Desert in Niger Republic. The tragedy occurred after the vehicle they were traveling in broke down while they were returning from a Muslim religious gathering in Mali. Officials in Agadez reported that the group ran out of water during their journey, leading to the fatalities.
