Tensions escalated in Kofan Kaura, Lafia Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, as residents publicly burned campaign posters of Governor Abdullahi Sule for the upcoming 2027 senatorial election. The demonstrators also set fire to flags of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and brooms, which are emblematic of the party, while chanting slogans against electoral malpractice and imposition. This unrest follows Governor Sule's recent decision to contest for the Nasarawa North senatorial seat, despite previously stating he would not seek another elective position after his current term. He secured the APC senatorial primary election with a significant majority, garnering 47,393 votes against his opponent's 2,915.
