Northerners living in South-West states have expressed concerns over rising harassment and discrimination, which they attribute to increased security issues in the region. Ahmad S. Salihu, the Sarkin Samari of Ile-Ife and Chairman of the Arewa Development Support Group in Osun State, highlighted the negative labeling of northerners as bandits or associated with Boko Haram. He emphasized that this profiling has led to a climate of fear and mistrust among the northern community in the South-West. The group is calling for an end to such stigmatization and for a more inclusive approach to security that does not target specific ethnic groups.
