The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has raised concerns regarding the actions of its Vice Presidential candidate, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, alleging that he is attempting to take over the party's structure in the North West, particularly in Kano State. In a statement issued by the party's Northwest Vice Chairman, Mohammed Rabiu Serina, and Kano State Chairman, Hussaini Isa Mariga, they accused Kwankwaso of marginalizing non-Kwankwasiyya members and obstructing their candidacy for elective positions within the party. The leaders, who claim to be founding members of the NDC, emphasized their significant contributions to establishing the party's framework in the region prior to Kwankwaso's involvement. Tensions reportedly intensified when Kwankwaso sought complete control of the party's operations in Kano, leading to a mediation effort by National Leader Henry Seriake Dickson, which resulted in a power-sharing agreement allocating 60% control to Kwankwaso and his supporters, while the original party structure retained 40%.
