The Ekiti State Police Command has apprehended two additional individuals, Daramola Sehinde and Oluyede Dapo, in relation to the abduction and assault of Hon. Rufus Olorunfemi, the Chairman of Ikere-West Local Council Development Area, and a victim named Funso Ajayi. This action, taken on June 6, 2026, by the Command’s Violent Crime Response Unit, raises the total number of suspects in custody to five. Police Public Relations Officer, SP Sunday Abutu, confirmed that the suspects face charges of conspiracy, abduction, and assault occasioning harm, and emphasized that investigations will continue with plans to bring all involved parties to justice. Additionally, the Command refuted claims made by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) deputy governorship candidate, Ayodeji Ogunsakin, regarding alleged police intimidation of party members, labeling these assertions as baseless.
