WAEC accuses schools, supervisors of extorting candidates in ongoing WASSCE

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has reported receiving concerning allegations regarding the extortion of candidates during the ongoing May/June 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE). In a statement issued by the acting Public Affairs Officer, Mrs. Moyosola, it was revealed that some supervisors and schools have been demanding unauthorized fees from candidates under various pretenses. WAEC has condemned these actions and is taking steps to address the situation to ensure a fair examination process for all candidates involved. The council has urged candidates to report any instances of extortion to the appropriate authorities.
