Central African Republic: IPC Acute Food Insecurity Snapshot | April - August 2026

Reliefweb | 09-06-2026 01:12pm |

Between April and August 2026, nearly two million individuals in the Central African Republic are projected to face high levels of acute food insecurity, necessitating immediate intervention. This figure includes approximately 262,000 people classified in IPC Phase 4 (Emergency) and about 1.75 million in IPC Phase 3 (Crisis). The most severely affected populations include internally displaced persons, refugees, and low-income households reliant on market food supplies, particularly in the prefectures of Vakaga, Basse-Kotto, Haute-Kotto, and Mbomou. While there has been a slight improvement in food security conditions compared to earlier projections, challenges such as ongoing armed conflict, high food prices, and limited humanitarian funding continue to hinder access to food for many.
