FG cuts ministers’ imprest to N700,000, tightens spending rules

The Federal Government has implemented new financial regulations aimed at enhancing fiscal responsibility within Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs). As part of these measures, the reimbursable imprest for public officials has been reduced to N700,000. Additionally, the 2026 Annual General Imprest Warrant, signed by the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Taiwo, outlines stricter controls on spending to ensure better management of public funds. These changes are intended to promote accountability and reduce unnecessary expenditures within government operations.
