On Tuesday, a group of young Nigerians organized a protest at the National Assembly in Abuja, urging the federal government to take immediate and effective measures to address the rising insecurity in the country. The demonstration, named ‘Nigerians Unite Against Terror’, commenced at the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs and culminated at the National Assembly complex, where participants displayed placards and voiced their demands for an end to the ongoing violence, including killings, abductions, and banditry. A leader of the protest highlighted the necessity for proactive governance, calling for sincerity and decisive action from government officials. This protest reflects a growing public discontent over recent mass abductions, particularly of schoolchildren, and ongoing attacks by armed groups, with similar demonstrations occurring in other cities, including Lagos, where citizens have also sought stronger security measures and enhanced safety for schools.
