President Bola Tinubu has authorized the allocation of ₦10 billion to enhance Nigeria's preparedness for a potential Ebola outbreak, in light of recent cases reported in various African nations. This funding aims to strengthen the national health security framework and improve the rapid response capabilities of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC). In conjunction with this financial support, Tinubu has established a Presidential Task Force on Ebola Virus Disease Preparedness and Emerging Public Health Threats, which will be led by Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila and include representatives from relevant federal agencies and state governments. The initiative also encompasses increased surveillance at borders and airports, including intensified passenger screening and the establishment of isolation centers at major airports, to mitigate the risk of virus importation.
