The Federal Government has stated that Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, was one of the political leaders involved in the consensus to implement a rotational presidency in Nigeria. This decision was made in the aftermath of the annulment of the June 12, 1993, presidential election.
