Sheikh Ahmad Gumi has addressed the controversy surrounding his visit to Ibadan, Oyo State, which occurred in November 2025. He clarified that he was not invited by any local Muslim group and emphasized his right to travel freely across Nigeria. Gumi represented the Coalition of Northern Muslim Ulama during his visit, where he participated in the Southern Nigerian Ulama Summit at the University of Ibadan. His comments came in the wake of a victim's statement denying that abductors had demanded the implementation of Sharia law, a claim that has been dismissed by the Muslim Rights Concern as false.
