The Presidency has issued a statement criticizing Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), labeling him as a "copy-and-paste politician" who lacks the capability to compete with President Bola Tinubu. Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, emphasized that Obi's tenure as the governor of Anambra State did not yield significant achievements, particularly in the area of security, as noted by his successor, Willie Obiano. Onanuga further contrasted Obi’s leadership with Tinubu’s legacy in Lagos, highlighting the latter's enduring infrastructure initiatives, such as the rail and road masterplan. These comments come as political tensions rise in the lead-up to the 2027 elections, with Obi emerging as a prominent opposition figure against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
