During a plenary session on Wednesday, the House of Representatives amended its Standing Orders in a swift move to address the ongoing dispute regarding the selection of a new Minority Leader. This decision came in response to efforts by 60 minority lawmakers who sought to appoint Hon. Ikenga Ugochinyere to fill the vacancy left by the departure of former Minority Leader, Kingsley Chinda. The amendment effectively blocked Ugochinyere and others from assuming leadership roles within the minority faction of the House, intensifying the existing controversy surrounding the leadership transition.
