Two members of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), identified as Ismail Mohammed and Abu Umar, surrendered to troops from the 159 Battalion in Geidam, Yobe State, on June 8. The individuals are reported to be commanders within the group and specialists in improvised explosive devices (IEDs). Their surrender is part of ongoing military operations aimed at countering insurgency in the region. The Nigerian military continues to engage in efforts to stabilize affected areas and reduce the influence of terrorist groups.
