Sunday Ogini, the National Secretary of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP), has publicly criticized Prof. Joash Amupitan, the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), for alleged incompetence in legal matters related to electoral processes. During an appearance on News Central Television, Ogini contended that Amupitan's interpretation of court rulings reflects a significant deficiency in his ability to oversee Nigeria's electoral framework. He pointed to recent court judgments that validated the leadership of the Bito Abu-led executive, asserting that both the Federal Capital Territory High Court and the Court of Appeal in Owerri affirmed their position. Ogini expressed concern that Amupitan's failure to adhere to these rulings could jeopardize the integrity of Nigeria's democracy, emphasizing the necessity for INEC to respect court orders.
