A 25-year-old laborer, Abubakar Ado, has been sentenced to eight months in prison by a Jos Magistrates’ Court for the theft of a mobile phone. The presiding Magistrate, Mrs. Hannatu Ashom, delivered the sentence after Ado pleaded guilty to a one-count charge of stealing. In addition to the prison term, the court offered Ado an alternative option to pay a fine of N50,000.
