Hajiya Azumi Namadi Bebeji, a former member of the House of Representatives from Kano State, has raised concerns regarding the political landscape for women in Nigeria. During the 2026 Strategic Mentorship Interactive Session with female participants, she stated that while men may support women's involvement in politics, they often obstruct their access to elected positions. Bebeji, who previously represented the Kiru/Bebeji constituency, emphasized the need for systemic changes to ensure that women are not only allowed to participate but also have equal opportunities to be elected into office.
