The International Organization for Migration conducted a Potential Migrants Survey in Kyrgyzstan from May to July 2025, focusing on the cities of Bishkek and Osh, which are notable for their high rates of international migration. The survey targeted individuals who had taken specific steps towards migration, such as applying for jobs abroad or obtaining visas, and utilized location-based sampling in areas frequented by potential migrants. Results indicate that Europe, the Republic of Korea, the Russian Federation, and Türkiye are the primary destinations for these individuals. The findings highlight a significant interest among the youth in skill development as part of their migration plans, with a majority of respondents being young adults who possess at least upper secondary education, and over sixty percent having pursued post-secondary or tertiary education.
