Airport security, 2 others nabbed over ₦4.4bn gold smuggling in Kano

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has apprehended an Aviation Security (AVSEC) officer, Inspector Ali Baffa, along with two accomplices at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport. They are accused of attempting to smuggle unprocessed gold bars valued at over ₦4.4 billion out of Nigeria. The Kano Zonal Directorate of the EFCC reported that Baffa was intercepted during the operation, leading to the arrests and further investigations into the smuggling attempt. The case underscores ongoing efforts by the EFCC to combat financial crimes and illegal trafficking in the country.
