Thomas Partey, a midfielder for the Ghana national football team, has been denied entry into Canada ahead of their opening match in the FIFA World Cup due to ongoing sexual assault charges in the UK. The Canadian government, adhering to strict immigration laws, refused him a visa as he faces serious criminal indictments. While Partey is permitted to train with his teammates in the United States, he will not be able to participate in the match against Panama at BMO Field in Toronto on June 18. The legal proceedings against him include seven counts of rape and one count of sexual assault, with a trial date set for June 2027.
